The creation of a photographic record of sites of archaeological interest through the Scottish Islands. Exploring both unknown gems and well known places of archaeological interest. The project celebrates 2017 Scotlands year of history, heritage, and archaeology .
Origins of the project
Between 1979 and 1981 my Dutch Oma took a series of solo trips from her home in Holland to Scotland on a trail of archaeological sites of special interest.
She documented these trips through a series of dedicated albums which recently came into my possession. Through my year long project I aim to revisit these places, following in her steps and document the journey, the people I meet and the places of special interest.
Using time-lapse, stills and the written word, I will document my journey and experiences and put it side to side with my Oma’s images and notes.
The project will be documented along the way using social media, blogs and video so that people can follow in my journey to these interesting and remote locations.
