Harris is one of my favourite places and it is somewhere I visit regularly to photograph the fabulous beaches over there. I recently bought a converted van which now allows me to stay as close to the beach as possible and peak out of the window at some unearthly hour to see whether the sunrise or sunset is looking promising or not. It is somehow easier to drag yourself out of bed at 4am when sleeping in a van!
Since I last visited Harris have developed a series of designated camping spots along the coast. So there’s no more wondering if its ok to park up overnight. You can simply pull into a layby and pay £5 online.
I stayed in one such camping spot right on the edge of a small bay close to Scarista and woke up the next day to the sound of waves. The day was spent taking photographs on Luskentyre and Scarista beach and here are just a few of the images from this trip:
