The Isle of Muck is the smallest of the Inner Isles, with just 40 inhabitants and is only two miles in length by one mile wide. Electricity all day is relatively new on Muck. It was only a few years ago that having electricity available from 8am until 11 am and then again from 5 until midnight was normal. There are no shops on the Isle of Muck but the co op apparently does deliver for the residents!
I was invited over to this little island to give a days landscape workshop for the community recently and was given permission to bring my van onto the island. I parked up by Gallanach beach between several cow pats with the most spectacular views over to Isle of Rum and the Isle of Eigg from where I stayed for a couple of days. I find it wonderful to come and meet communities who live in unique and remote places like this and the whole trip was just a delight. I hope to return one day to this fabulous little island and stay at Gallanach Lodge which looks amazing!
