I run retreats to some of the most peaceful landscapes I can find.

Created from a passionate belief in the power of quiet – in a world that is increasingly noisy and communicative, I wanted to create a space where you can learn about photography in places which themselves are quiet except for the sounds of nature.
I am totally dedicated to sharing, teaching and helping you in your photographic journey. Taking to you some amazing places along the way.
Places where you can take time out from the lives you lead and see, hear, feel nature all around and have the space to understand how that translates into your own landscape work.

I’m nowhere even near materialistic but I love my van!

It allows me the freedom of the road and to travel through islands, stopping wherever I feel on the way. It is an essential element to my lifestyle. When I close those doors to set off on a trip, I instantly relax. I also do my best thinking and planning whilst travelling in it. Maybe its the lack of internet or constant connectivity that allows me the freedom and space to think. Whatever it is, I know that if I need to recharge and make new plans I just need to head off by myself in my van for a while.

I travel solo by choice and  I am a big believer in the power of quiet, both in the sense of sound and in terms of place. Quiet places give me energy and my creativity flows when I have space and silence. I happily spend days or weeks completely cut off and the Scottish islands are ideal for this!

Susan Cain’s book “Quiet: The power of Introverts in a world that can’t stop talking” changed my life.

I spent many many years not following my heart and not doing what I really wanted to do in life because of family commitments and circumstance. I am making up for that now and love helping others to do the same.

We all have a special love of something – discover it ….and go out and do it!

The washing up can wait and the kids will be just fine – learn to put yourself first because leading a fulfilling life is so incredibly important.

I specialise in quiet, remote parts of Scotland and the Scottish Islands. I regularly visit and stay on the islands …. From Orkney to the Outer Hebrides, each has a special place in my heart.

However, I also love world travel and I tend to have one or two trips abroad each year. I do commissioned travel photography so am lucky to have travelled to many countries. This picture was taken at the North Cape on a trip from Bergen to Kirkenes with Hurtigruten.

In the past two years I have been solo to India and Sri Lanka. I also decided to fly to Vegas last year and buy camping kit and take a roadtrip round the national parks in Arizona. Im unsure where I will go this year so watch this space!

It’s all about water for me.

I have been obsessed since a child who swam competitively and went off in search of a home by the water at 18.

I surf, walk, paddleboard, cycle and spend most of my life in my wellies and walking boots. The outdoors is where I am most at home  I also love wild swimming – even in the winter in the Highlands of Scotland where it is a little chilly!
