I visited the Isle of Uist many years ago and loved the wide open empty expanses of beaches I found on the North coast. This time, our first stop was a wonderful B & B very close to Baleshare beach.
With open plan, modern decor and bright airy rooms with amazing views Bagh Alluin is run by artist Jac Volbeden, originally from Holland. The breakfast was simply amazing and being so close to the beach was a real bonus.
Our next night was spent at a fabulous campsite on the west coast called Balranald campsite. Unfortunately there are no pictures as our entire stay was spent bundled up nice and cosy in the van, sheltering from 45 mph winds. However, the site is amongst one of the nicest campsites I have seen – it is small but very clean, modern, friendly and right next to a gorgeous bay. It has the added advantage of a van serving the most delicious bacon rolls and cakes. I will return to this site another time and hopefully be able to post some images next time! For now, here is Baleshare beach, North Uist
