Local, sustainable and delicious homemade food. Croft 36 is a unique business doing really well on the Isle of Harris. Best known for it’s home made pies, Croft 36 also sells meals, soup and the most divine small pastries. The lemon tart and frangipan are to die for.
I once had a chicken pie after a wedding a few weeks ago as we stopped by croft 36 whilst en route to various beaches for photographs. The bride and groom both wanted a pie and some soup 🙂 so I couldn’t say no to trying one. I was going to just have a taste and leave it till dinner time but one taste turned into devouring every last bit.
The simple shack at the side of the road is filled every morning and an honesty box is out for you to pay for your food. There is a pot of hot soup you can help yourself to and an oven to warm your food up. The only problem is that you have to be quick – everything sells out by the afternoon.
This simple, honest food cooked to the highest standard and served simply.
Croft 36 also deliver main courses ready to eat to your acommodation or even to your camper van. I have yet to try this out, but I love the idea of hot meal being delivered to me as I sit in my van beside a beach on Harris.
