Luxury accommodation on the Isle of Harris
I visit the Isle of Harris so frequently now but have never actually stayed in Tarbert. By chance I had one night at the end of a stay in Lewis with my son Ewan before taking the Calmac ferry home from Tarbert to Uig the next day. After working really hard and being out and about photographing for several days, I just felt like treating us to a little bit of luxury. I had seen the new apartments, Kirklea Island Suites from Hotel Hebrides, advertised before and thought they looked really interesting.
Having a bit of a liking for interesting design and a luxury accommodation, I booked for the night to experience it for myself. I also booked for dinner at the Hotel but ended up wishing we had stayed in and cooked. The dinner was fairly disappointing and the accommodation far too wonderful not to spend every possible minute there!
We had two totally individually designed bedrooms, a beautiful bathroom complete with a roll top bath and a living room that was a comfortable and enjoyable space to be in. I loved the quirky details like the antique hanging oil lamps refitted with bulbs and contemporary wood effect wallpaper. We had a really comfortable night and I would highly recommend the apartments to anyone looking for accommodation on the Isle of Harris. I will definitely be back!
